Dr. Alexia Tsakiris

Dr. Alexia Tsakiris, BVetMed, GDipVWHM, CVA, RH (AHG) was born and raised on the Jersey shore in Monmouth Beach. She received her B.S. from Cook College, Rutgers University in 2000 and graduated with her BVetMed from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2005. Since graduation, she has worked as a small animal veterinarian focusing on internal medicine. Intrigued by the prospect of being able to further help her patients at an acupuncture lecture at a veterinary conference in 2008, she earned her Certificate of Veterinary Acupuncture at Chi Institute in Florida in 2009.

She studied herbal medicine with the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies (CIVT) and received her Certificate of Veterinary Herbal Medicine (Western) in 2014 and Graduate Diploma of Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine (GDipVWHM) in June of 2017. In the fall of 2018, Dr. Tsakiris joined the faculty of the CIVT and has lectured internationally as well as nationally.

As herbal medicine is her true passion, she studied under the world-renowned Ethnobotanist, David Winston RH(AHG) in his two-year Clinical Herbalist Program (2014-2016) and is a Registered Herbalist (the highest accreditation for human herbal medicine).

Since seeing the benefits of spinal manipulation (chiropractic), she began pursuing her veterinary spinal manipulation certificate through the Health Pioneers Institute in Chicago in January of 2017.

A believer that food is medicine, she took advanced training in food therapy at the Chi Institute to earn her certificate in food therapy in 2019.

In 2016, she opened Blue Sage Veterinary Wellness Center, now Naturopawthic Veterinary Wellness Center, in Little Silver, New Jersey. She exclusively practices holistic veterinary medicine: acupuncture, herbal medicine, food therapy, laser, spinal manipulation, and ozone therapy. In 2020, she created Naturopawthic Courses, an education platform for pet parents.

She has two beautiful boys and dog Lulu who keep her busy.

She is 30hr certified Radiant Child Yoga teacher and volunteers at her sons’ school teaching yoga. In 2020, she earned her 200hr YTT certificate with Ohana Rising Yoga School. She is Reiki III certified.

Project Kefi and Vet in Balance

Her other passion is providing veterinarians with the tools for energetical alignment in their home and work lives. She founded Project Kefi and Vet in Balance in 2019 to support vets who want to find their passion in vet med again through one on one coaching as well as workshops and retreats. Project Kefi works closely with veterinary specialists and coaches to create integrative continuing education opportunities. TheWomen’s Veterinary Collective was birthed in 2021 providing women veterinarians a platform to support one another to create a sustainable profession.
